Carbon fiber filament is PLA or PETG loaded with chopped carbon fiber for extra stiffness, strength, and a distinctive matte finish. It is popular for functional prototypes, drone parts, enclosures, and rigid brackets, but it prints differently from standard PLA and can be abrasive on cheap nozzles.
What Carbon Fiber Filament Is Good For
- Stiff brackets and mounts: rigid, low-flex parts.
- Drone and RC components: light weight with strength.
- Professional enclosures: clean matte carbon look.
- Functional prototypes: parts that need to hold shape under load.
Printing Tips
Carbon fiber filled filament is abrasive. A hardened steel nozzle is strongly recommended to avoid wearing out a standard brass nozzle quickly. It prints best at higher nozzle temperatures, with a cool enclosure for dimensionally stable parts, and slower speeds to get a clean surface. Expect a slightly rougher texture than pure PLA; that is normal and part of the material’s character.
Ancepts 3D stocks carbon fiber filament alongside PLA, PETG, ABS, and specialty materials. See the full filament range, or contact us for wholesale and OEM filament programs.
